A big "Hey Y'all!" from South Carolina

Image
Hey y'all! Comin' at ya today with a recent custom order that was placed by a new client. A request was made to produce a South Carolina themed card. This was such a fun project as I've never done a state specific card before. I did some research as to how the state of South Carolina is represented. I'm not from this state originally so I'm a little behind when it comes to the history of this great state. So, as I was looking around the web, I kept coming across the Palmetto Tree with the Moon. I did find this as an SVG file and was planning on cutting it out on my cricut using Sure Cuts A Lot. However, when I did a search on my Gypsy for South Carolina, it turned out that I already had everything I needed! So, the details of this little guy are a bit in depth. The cardstock base and all the mats are from American Crafts. The striped designer paper is by Quick Quotes. The polka dot paper is part of the Blips and Bleeps line by TPC Studio. The South Carolin

Quickie Thank You Card

On a recent scrapbooking retreat I attended, I had the pleasure of being the one in my group to make this card for a very special friend. I absolutely love the color combination of teal and black so when I was digging in my scrap papers and ran across the patterned paper, I just knew I had to go for this combo once again! The patterned paper is the Winter Twig collection by Little Yellow Bicycle . If you haven't seen this winter themed line, you should run to your local scrapbook store RIGHT NOW and demand it ;). I found this at one of our local scrapbook stores, Easy As Cat Soup . The teal and black cardstock is by Bazzill. The little bubbly looking things on the flowers are by The Robin's Nest and are called Dew Drops. These little guys come in a ton of different colors and in case you don't already know, I'm completely obsessed with them :). They're super easy to stick on use either a glue pen or the newest micro glue dots. The sentiment was cut using my

Step Up Quilling Class

Image
Howdy!! I'm on a roll posting on this blog :). I'm still horrible at the formatting though so please be patient with me as I learn how to work it. I've been on a quilling kick lately and will be teaching a "step up" sort of class at Whimsy this coming Sunday from 2 - 4. I am a HUGE supporter of the local stores and am really thankful for the opportunities I have been given to teach some classes. So, without further ado, here are the projects we'll be doing. Don't worry, if you've never quilled before, you can still do this class!! The chart that we are going to create is going to most helpful for those that haven't done a ton of quilling. Be sure to give the store a call and register by Friday night to ensure you have a spot!! Happy crafting!!

Fun Owl Card!

Hello blogland! I have a cute little card for you today. I don't typically do a lot of paper layering but I was challenged to use some new paper by a local scrapbook store, Easy As Cat Soup . The paper is called Paper Layerz and it was designed by Megan Elizabeth (would love to share a website link but I can't find one!! Who doesn't have some type of website now a days?!). Anyway, at first I was pretty skeptical about why this paper was such a "must have". Well, it didn't take long for me to realize why I MUST HAVE this paper and that it did not come in near enough colors. If you like to do a lot of layering using your Cricut (and don't have a bunch of mats to keep single sheets of paper on), then this paper is for YOU! Each paper features 9 coordinating squares colored paper (some pattern, some solid). Using this paper, you'll eliminate the need to constantly change your paper on your mat and also the massive overload of scraps that are always leftove

Japanese Themed Card

Image
Hello! Just a quick post for you today. I have the pleasure of working with one of the local scrapbook stores, Whimsy. This time around I got to play with a super cute set of stamps by Hero Arts called Japanese Garden . I'm a huge of tree/plant stamps so when I saw the tree that is available in this set, I instantly knew it had to be mine. I decided to challenge myself with this project and bust out of my shell by NOT using the tree :). You know how sometimes you can buy acrylic stamps and they will never stamp right no matter how much scrubbing you do? Well, this stamp set is not like that at all. With one quick scrub to condition the stamp set, it stamped beautifully. I used both Momento Ink and Tim Holtz Distress Ink with no problems. Want the details? Well, it's pretty simple! The cardstock is by American Crafts and Coredination. The designer paper is by Graphic 45. It's actually a Christmas paper line but this design can easily be used for non-christmasy projects. I us

March 2012 Sketch Blog Challenge

Image
Wow! I once again have let this blog slip through my fingers. I have been so busy with my full time job and some new ventures I've started lately. We are very fortunate to have 2 relatively new local scrapbook stores near me so I've been lucky enough to be able to start working with both of the stores teaching and designing. Anyway, enough of my ramblings! This post is for the fabulous sketch challenge being hosted by Shannon White at http://scraplady324.blogspot.com/. Shannon has come with another great sketch for this month: Here's my take on her sketch this month. It's pretty simple to put together. My designer paper is by GCD Studios. The flowers were cut out of paper included in the same line. The paper is absolutely gorgeous and features a very subtle design of sheet music. I used my fiskars border punch for the scalloped edges around my photos. The title was made using my cricut but I can't remember which cartridge. The cute pup is our youngest one, Sadie. Sh
