All That Scrap For Me

Hello again! Things have been crazy as always and I've neglected my poor blog. Just wanted to share a little ATC project with you today. These were made for a swap in Fancy Paper Crafters . The swap theme was Spring ATCs. I love all the flowers and butterflies that come out in spring so naturally, this is what I was going to do for my ATC. With the designer paper that I chose, I had so many color options! I looked through my cardstock to see what I had in my stash (I'm on a mission to use my stash rather buy anything!) that would match and came up with this coral/pinky color. I used a Stampin Up punch for the butterfly. The flower center is a simple jeweled brad by Recollections. The jewels on the butterfly are by Nicole's Design (I think!). I couldn't find my flower punches so I used my spellbinder dies and embossed them. Pretty easy peasy right :). Thanks for stopping by today!! Have a crafty day!

Hey y'all! Sharing a scrapbook page with ya today (thought it would be good to mix up this blog a little instead of always doing cards!). When my oldest niece, Alex, graduated high school, I made a HUGE scrapbook of her life (birth to graduation). Well, I had so much fun with it and saw how much happiness it brought to her, I decided to do the same for my nephew, Austin, who graduated in the summer of 2013. This is one of my favorite layouts from his completed album. The completed album had right around 40 pages total. This was a challenge for me as I wasn't used to scrapbooking "boy" themed pages (we only have dogs and they've all been female). I wanted to use only one picture on this scrapbook page as I felt the photo deserved to be the sole focus on the page. I don't remember the name of the designer paper I used but I know all the cardstock is by Bazzill. I used my printer to type up the journaling (my handwriting is terrible so I always print when...

Hey y'all! Back at ya today with a few quilled cards that I'll be teaching at AC Moore on Saturday, February 22. I would love to be able to share with you how I made these cards but that wouldn't be fair for those folks that paid for the class :). Hopefully I'll see you in one of my classes! If you have any questions at all, just ask!! I can tell you that the designer paper in the cards is by Crate Paper and is part of their "The Pier" collection. The cardstock is all by Bazzill and is the heavy weight card shoppe paper line. The pearl embellishments are by Nicole Crafts and come in a wide variety of sizes and colors (and they are way cheaper that the Prima pearls). The twin is by Queen and Company (I just love those little packages of twine - especially since they're only $1!!). Challenge yourself to give quilling a try. It's one of those hobbies that doesn't require a ton of "stuff" :). Happy crafting!!

Hello! The snow sure is pretty outside! I've had about enough of being stuck in this house though. Heading back to work tomorrow - it is going to be rough after being closed for the past 2 days. At least it's Friday and it's a long weekend thanks to the holiday on Monday :). Hey peeps! We sure are enjoying the snow (at least 6 inches so far)! Being stuck in the house for now, I've been going through pictures and found some projects that I haven't shared yet! I found this gem in my Christmas Card stash. This card was designed by my fabulous friend, Mary Anne Magliaro. She offers a Christmas Card Club through Stampin Up that allows us to get our cards done throughout the year. Lots of cutting was involved but it was so worth the effort!! So, the basics of this card are pretty easy. We used the Grand Merry Christmas die cut by Memory Box . The cardstock is by Stampin Up although I'm not certain the names of the colors we used (they were a bright pink and white). The flowers were actually stickers sold by Elizabeth Craft Designs and are the Daisies and Poinsettias with Doodles design. Hello again! Yes, I realize "swappity" isn't a word ... just roll with it :). Bringing you a couple of cards I made for swaps at  Fancy Paper Crafters . We swap stuff each month so check it out when ya get a chance! I just love how these two cards turned out. After trying various designs, this is what the final product is: So one of the things I usually do on my cards is ink the edges of white paper. I use a cut up yellow sponge (one of the circle sponges) which really lets the ink go on nicely. The flowers in the Fall card started out white and I just took some Tim Holtz distress ink and colored them to match my paper - I LOVE making my own custom colored things! Hey peeps!! Back at ya with another one of my recent projects. These were made for a class I'm teaching at Easy As Cat Soup on February 8. I am in LOVE with quilling and am very excited about this class! Unfortunately, because this is a paying class, I can't share with you exactly how I made the cards but I can give you just a few tips :). Patience - like all new hobbies, it takes patience to learn what to do and feel comfortable with it. If you don't have any stores in your area to take quilling classes, You Tube is a wonderful thing. I will say though that there is something about seeing it done "in person" that makes it so much easier! Practice - you know the old saying "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again"? Well, with quilling, this is sooooo important! This is not something you're going to be an expert at your first time. You have to work through the techniques to develop your skills. I had the pleasure of teaching another class at my local AC Moore store and these were the cards I showed them today. I can't share the specific details of how these were made as there was a fee for the class (and that wouldn't be fair to those who paid for it). I can give you some tips though when trying to make these at home :).   For this one, the best piece of advice I have for you is to design your flowers first before glueing the pieces down. This will ensure that the flowers lay down how you want them to rather than be "stuck" and then out of shape (thus causing you to hate your project). For this one, be patient and practice, practice, practice! To get the bells "even", try various sizes of paper and pick your favorite size. Make notes as to what sizes your using as you go along so that when you find "the perfect fit", you'll know...

Hello again!! Back at ya today with yet another black, white and red project. I've been on this color combo kick for a while now (in case you haven't noticed lol). This is an older project that I just found in my picture archives and realized that I never shared it :).     This was a really simple card to make. All of the cardstock is smooth cardstock from Stampin' Up. The bling is by Bazzill. The flowers came plain white (by Prima) and I simply stamped over them with a script stamp using red ink (the picture makes them look off white but they're really white). There's also some twine stuck in the back of the flower to give it a little umph. The white cardstock was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. On the black cardstock, I used a Fiskars border punch.   Put it all together and the card is done! Easy peasy right?! Just a quick project for ya - thanks for stopping by! Hello again! Yes, I realize it's no longer July :) .... I still wanted to share this card that I made for the Christmas in July Card Swap at Fancy Paper Crafters . I can't wait for Christmas!! I think it's wintertime that I'm ultimately longing for lol. The years that I'm actually put together enough to send out Christmas cards, I send out handmade cards. Some of my friends suggested we start our cards early this year and I jumped at the chance.   I found the triple layer stamping technique on Split Coast Stampers  and knew I had to try it out! Hey y'all! So I have 3 coworkers that are having babies. Of course, I had to figure out something handmade to make! Someone else was already doing a diaper cake so I knew I had to go a different route. So, off to Pinterest I went!   I searched for general "diaper" projects and came across several ideas for diaper wreaths and decided to give it a try. It was much easier than I thought it would have been and was able to get all three done in just one evening.   The supplies were pretty minimal: a wire wreath form for the base, diapers (how many depends on your wreath size and diaper size), ribbon to match the color scheme you're going for and decorations/embellishments.   I used an 18" wire wreath form. If I choose to do this project again, I'll use something smaller, probably a 13" wreath. I think it would look better. Also, I might try using a straw wreath form to allow the diapers to be fuller and not quite as flat around the wreath.   ...

I made these for an acetate swap at Fancy Paper Crafters . They were really quite simple! I don't have all the paper details as I used stuff from my stash (it was basic cardstock and I have no idea about the designer paper - sorry!).   I'm in love with these butterflies!!   I think it's the sparkly nature that has me dazzled lol. To make these pretties, I took a piece of Shimmer Sheetz by Elizabeth Craft Designs and embossed it with my Cuttlebug folder. I used my new Stampin Up! butterfly punch and punched out a bunch of these. The layers of paper on the front and inside were made using Spellbinders (those things are so convenient!). Hello again! I have a fun project to share with you today. This card was for a swap at Fancy Paper Crafters and the theme was "fancy folded cards". I scrap lifted the idea from  this tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers. I just love the tutorials they have over there! However, for mine, I wanted it to fit in a standard size envelope as I didn't feel like making my own. So, I altered the tutorial to make my finished card the standard A2 size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). This card is called a Center Step Card since it has a small step in the center. So, without further ado, here's what I came up with:   Want to know how I did it? I had the pleasure of doing a demonstration today at AC Moore working with Vinyl Transfers and Wooden Frames. To do this project, here's what you'll need: - Wooden Frame - Vinyl Transfers of your choosing - Acrylic Paint of your choosing - Paint Brush - Something for you to put paint on (like a paper plate or plastic tray) - Popsicle Stick, Bone Folder or other item to rub your vinyl on your project - Scissor or Xacto Knife for trimming I forgot to take pictures of the roll before I used it but will do my best to describe it. The vinyl transfer sheets come on a roll about 12" x 18". The Nicole Crafts vinyl comes with the vinyl pattern and the transfer sheet all in one package (made it super easy to use!!). Hello again! I wanted to share with you a special project I did for a demo at AC Moore recently. The demo was showcasing the Gallery Glass paints by Plaid Online . This was definitely outside of my comfort zone as I have had no experience with this product. Fortunately, I was given great directions by the corporate office so I had very little trouble putting this together :).   I started out with a template underneath a blank Leading Page. You can snag templates off of the internet as virtually any image can be traced. I simply traced the template with the Leading Paint and ended up with this. If you have trouble keeping the bottle squeezed while you trace, try using both hands (this also helps if you're shaky):   Move it out of the way so that it doesn't get touched while drying. Once that dried (give it at least 24 hours), I took my other paint colors and filled in each section.   It's important to make sure the paint touches the edges of the l...

Hello! Want to see something super cute? Well, you've stopped at the right blog today. This little card was made for a swap at Fancy Paper Crafters . The theme was "Animal Cards" and when I ran across this cute little stamp, I knew I had to use it! Here's what ya need to complete this card (it's really quite simple):     Supplies: - Cardstock (my patterned paper was from Basic Grey) - Embossing Folder (I used a daisy one from Darice) - Stamped Image (I believe this little guy was by Stampendous) - Copic Markers (love!!) - Embellishments (ribbon and bling on a roll)   Once you have all your supplies gathered, it's really just a matter of putting everything together. I am thrilled that this art has come back around. I started many years ago and tucked everything away and went a different direction. About two years ago, it made a reappearance so I pulled everything back out and started working on it again. So, here's what I've come up with recently (these were made for another class at AC Moore):   My crafty friends will tell you that I've been on a black/white/red kick lately. I think it's going on 6 months now and I don't really see an end in site lol. The one on the bottom was a new technique for me (I think it's called husking but am not certain).
