For the Love of Quilling

Image
Hey y'all! Back at ya today with a few quilled cards that I'll be teaching at AC Moore on Saturday, February 22. I would love to be able to share with you how I made these cards but that wouldn't be fair for those folks that paid for the class :). Hopefully I'll see you in one of my classes! If you have any questions at all, just ask!! I can tell you that the designer paper in the cards is by Crate Paper and is part of their "The Pier" collection. The cardstock is all by Bazzill and is the heavy weight card shoppe paper line. The pearl embellishments are by Nicole Crafts and come in a wide variety of sizes and colors (and they are way cheaper that the Prima pearls). The twin is by Queen and Company (I just love those little packages of twine - especially since they're only $1!!). Challenge yourself to give quilling a try. It's one of those hobbies that doesn't require a ton of "stuff" :). Happy crafting!!

Just in time for Valentine's Day ...

Hello! The snow sure is pretty outside! I've had about enough of being stuck in this house though. Heading back to work tomorrow - it is going to be rough after being closed for the past 2 days. At least it's Friday and it's a long weekend thanks to the holiday on Monday :). So, since I haven't been able to go anywhere, I've spent loads of time in my craft room using some of my newest goodies. The project that I'm sharing today features Shimmer Sheetz by Elizabeth Craft Designs . I also used the die cuts Love and Thank You by Elizabeth Craft Designs. Without further ado, here is the project for today: Want to know how I made this little beauty? Keep reading! Supplies: - Elizabeth Craft Designs Die Cuts (links above) - Elizabeth Craft Designs Shimmer Sheets (I used Ruby Gemstone , Pink Iris , Light Pink Iris and White Iris ) (each piece is cut measuring 1 3/8 x 4 and then cut in half on the diagonal to form two triangles - emboss each piec

Christmas Cards {just a bit late lol}

Image
Hey peeps! We sure are enjoying the snow (at least 6 inches so far)! Being stuck in the house for now, I've been going through pictures and found some projects that I haven't shared yet! I found this gem in my Christmas Card stash. This card was designed by my fabulous friend, Mary Anne Magliaro. She offers a Christmas Card Club through Stampin Up that allows us to get our cards done throughout the year. Lots of cutting was involved but it was so worth the effort!! So, the basics of this card are pretty easy. We used the Grand Merry Christmas die cut by Memory Box . The cardstock is by Stampin Up although I'm not certain the names of the colors we used (they were a bright pink and white). The flowers were actually stickers sold by Elizabeth Craft Designs and are the Daisies and Poinsettias with Doodles design. These stickers are so easy to use and there are so many options to choose from! We took the stickers and using the transfer sheets placed them carefully on

Cards Anyone?

Hey y'all! Back at ya today with some cards I recently made for a class at my local AC Moore. This class was in January and we had such a great time! This was a beginning card class so there isn't a ton of techniques in these. Hope you like them! I think my fav is the Happy Birthday card using the sunburst technique. I've seen so many of these lately and wanted to try my hand at making one. Thanks for stopping by today :). Have a crafty day!

Swappity Swap!

Image
Hello again! Yes, I realize "swappity" isn't a word ... just roll with it :). Bringing you a couple of cards I made for swaps at  Fancy Paper Crafters . We swap stuff each month so check it out when ya get a chance! I just love how these two cards turned out. After trying various designs, this is what the final product is: So one of the things I usually do on my cards is ink the edges of white paper. I use a cut up yellow sponge (one of the circle sponges) which really lets the ink go on nicely. The flowers in the Fall card started out white and I just took some Tim Holtz distress ink and colored them to match my paper - I LOVE making my own custom colored things! Thanks for stopping by my little piece of craftiness :). Have a craftastic day!

Get Your Quill On!

Image
Hey peeps!! Back at ya with another one of my recent projects. These were made for a class I'm teaching at Easy As Cat Soup on February 8. I am in LOVE with quilling and am very excited about this class! Unfortunately, because this is a paying class, I can't share with you exactly how I made the cards but I can give you just a few tips :). Patience - like all new hobbies, it takes patience to learn what to do and feel comfortable with it. If you don't have any stores in your area to take quilling classes, You Tube is a wonderful thing. I will say though that there is something about seeing it done "in person" that makes it so much easier! Practice - you know the old saying "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again"? Well, with quilling, this is sooooo important! This is not something you're going to be an expert at your first time. You have to work through the techniques to develop your skills. Lastly, take the time and design

Black, White and Red Frenzy

Image
Hello again!! Back at ya today with yet another black, white and red project. I've been on this color combo kick for a while now (in case you haven't noticed lol). This is an older project that I just found in my picture archives and realized that I never shared it :).     This was a really simple card to make. All of the cardstock is smooth cardstock from Stampin' Up. The bling is by Bazzill. The flowers came plain white (by Prima) and I simply stamped over them with a script stamp using red ink (the picture makes them look off white but they're really white). There's also some twine stuck in the back of the flower to give it a little umph. The white cardstock was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. On the black cardstock, I used a Fiskars border punch.   Put it all together and the card is done! Easy peasy right?! Just a quick project for ya - thanks for stopping by! Do something crafty today :).

Christmas in July

Image
Hello again! Yes, I realize it's no longer July :) .... I still wanted to share this card that I made for the Christmas in July Card Swap at Fancy Paper Crafters . I can't wait for Christmas!! I think it's wintertime that I'm ultimately longing for lol. The years that I'm actually put together enough to send out Christmas cards, I send out handmade cards. Some of my friends suggested we start our cards early this year and I jumped at the chance.   I found the triple layer stamping technique on Split Coast Stampers  and knew I had to try it out! Once I had my idea, I needed some design inspiration. What better place to turn than Pinterest (can you tell I'm addicted)?!   I have been on a kick lately of using black, red and white. However, I knew I didn't want to use black on this Christmas Card but liked the idea of sticking with the red and white. I found this gorgeous card on the PartiCraft blog (from Pinterest). She didn't provide directions b

Fancy Folding!

Image
Hello again! I have a fun project to share with you today. This card was for a swap at Fancy Paper Crafters and the theme was "fancy folded cards". I scrap lifted the idea from  this tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers. I just love the tutorials they have over there! However, for mine, I wanted it to fit in a standard size envelope as I didn't feel like making my own. So, I altered the tutorial to make my finished card the standard A2 size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). This card is called a Center Step Card since it has a small step in the center. So, without further ado, here's what I came up with:   Want to know how I did it? It is really quite simple if you just take your time and get everything planned out. Here's a list of the product I used:   - Bazzill Cardstock: Juicy Pear - Papertrey Ink Cardstock: Raspberry Fizz - Generic Brown Cardstock - Generic White Cardstock - American Crafts Designer Paper: Amplified-Rock Opera - Stampin Up Ink:

For the LOVE of Quilling

Hello! Just thought I'd share some of my recent quilling projects. I haven't really talked much about quilling so now is as good a time as ever. I recently had the pleasure of teaching a class at our local AC Moore store and I had so much fun! The class was a Quilling Basics Workshop so the designs were pretty simple. These are the three cards the students learned to make:       Since this was a class folks had to pay for, I can't share the nitty gritty details on how these cards were created (that wouldn't be fair to the fabulous students that took my class). I can at least tell you what products I used :). All of the cardstock was from my stash but I think it was all Bazzill. The designer paper was from My Mind's Eye and is part of their Lost and Found 2 paper line. In general, I'm not a big fan of paper packs and I find that I very rarely purchase any. The main reason for this is because most of the paper is single sided and I feel like I don&

Fun Owl Card!

Image
Hello blogland! I have a cute little card for you today. I don't typically do a lot of paper layering but I was challenged to use some new paper by a local scrapbook store, Easy As Cat Soup . The paper is called Paper Layerz and it was designed by Megan Elizabeth (would love to share a website link but I can't find one!! Who doesn't have some type of website now a days?!). Anyway, at first I was pretty skeptical about why this paper was such a "must have". Well, it didn't take long for me to realize why I MUST HAVE this paper and that it did not come in near enough colors. If you like to do a lot of layering using your Cricut (and don't have a bunch of mats to keep single sheets of paper on), then this paper is for YOU! Each paper features 9 coordinating squares colored paper (some pattern, some solid). Using this paper, you'll eliminate the need to constantly change your paper on your mat and also the massive overload of scraps that are always leftove

Japanese Themed Card

Image
Hello! Just a quick post for you today. I have the pleasure of working with one of the local scrapbook stores, Whimsy. This time around I got to play with a super cute set of stamps by Hero Arts called Japanese Garden . I'm a huge of tree/plant stamps so when I saw the tree that is available in this set, I instantly knew it had to be mine. I decided to challenge myself with this project and bust out of my shell by NOT using the tree :). You know how sometimes you can buy acrylic stamps and they will never stamp right no matter how much scrubbing you do? Well, this stamp set is not like that at all. With one quick scrub to condition the stamp set, it stamped beautifully. I used both Momento Ink and Tim Holtz Distress Ink with no problems. Want the details? Well, it's pretty simple! The cardstock is by American Crafts and Coredination. The designer paper is by Graphic 45. It's actually a Christmas paper line but this design can easily be used for non-christmasy projects. I us
